Our recipe for “British à l’érable” baked beans

Baked beans? We never get tired of it! Especially in winter, when sugar season and our British à l’érable arrive!

Here is our recipe for a large family or to share with friends:

  • The day before, soak 1.5 kg of white beans.
  • The same day, rinse them with plenty of clean water.
  • In a large ovenproof pot or on the wood stove, place the beans and cover with water.
  • Add: a can of maple syrup, a can of British à l’érable, 1/2 cube of salted bacon, 1/4 cup of yellow mustard, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 chopped onion, a a little salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
  • Bake at 350C for 6 to 7 hours.
  • Enjoy very hot with a slice of buttered bread and a good British à l’érable.

Happy sugaring, cowboys!
